Year of Intention

It’s the last Monday of 2024, and so, my last Mind Shift Monday of the year.

It’s been an incredible year, and upon reflection, I can honestly say that spending time with you every Monday morning has become one of my favorite parts of the week. I’m so grateful that you’re part of The Quantum Soul family.

Having worked with so many incredible students this year has inspired tons of insights and lessons I’m excited to share with you going forward in 2025, but for now, I want to end this year strong.

So, I’m sending you today’s email with intention.

With the promise of a new year on the horizon, it’s easy to feel the pull of all the “new year, new you” hype that everyone seems to be pushing this time of year. Big goals, sweeping resolutions, and endless checklists are everywhere.

But I’d like you to take a break from your increasing list of ways you’re going to “fix” yourself in 2025 and ask yourself… do you really need to be fixed?

You are not broken.

Sure, your life may benefit from some improvements, but those improvements don’t have to come from a place of lack or self-criticism. Instead, they can come from a place of clarity and alignment with who you truly are.

Living with intention means you’re choosing to grow not because you’re incomplete, but because you’re inspired to live more fully.

What if, instead of starting 2025 with a sense of pressure, you start it with a sense of purpose?

Don’t make this new year just about doing more, make it about doing better. Better for yourself, your well-being, and your happiness.

So, how do you make 2025 the year of living with intention?

The Foundation for an Intentional Year

Intentional living isn’t about perfection, having all the answers, or creating an Instagram-worthy version of your life. It’s about making mindful choices that truly serve you and honor your values, not just reacting to the noise of the world around you.

Living with intention means you get to decide what’s worthy of your attention and what has the power to influence your happiness.

  1. The Year of Clarity
Instead of listing everything you want to achieve this year, focus on what will truly move the needle in your life. What brings you genuine happiness? What makes you feel grounded? What aligns with the vision you have for yourself?

Intentional living starts with clarity, and when you identify your core values, you can filter out distractions and focus your energy on what really matters to you. This doesn’t mean neglecting responsibilities. It means approaching responsibility with a mindset rooted in purpose, not just blind obligation.

  2. The Year of Presence
In a world constantly pulling your attention in a million directions, being fully present is a rare and valuable gift. Whether it’s enjoying a sit-down meal with your family, folding laundry, or savoring your morning coffee, presence allows you to connect with the moment and experience life to the fullest.

Research shows that multitasking isn’t as productive as it feels. It decreases your efficiency and raises your stress levels. This year, embrace the art of single-tasking and focus on one thing at a time. When you give your full attention to the moment, even mundane activities can be opportunities for mindfulness. Being present brings calm and clarity into even the busiest days.

  3. The Year of Mindful Routines
Your daily habits shape your life more than any grand resolution ever will. Intentional routines create a sense of stability and alignment, allowing you to show up as your best self day after day. Start small by adding one mindful habit to your mornings or evenings. It could be journaling, meditating, or just taking a moment to breathe deeply.

The goal isn’t to overhaul your entire day but to create anchor points that bring you back to yourself. A mindful morning could help you be more patient and receptive to unexpected changes throughout the day. A calm evening routine might help you sleep better, setting you up for success the next day. Moments of intentionality will ripple out, influencing how you make decisions that serve your happiness.

The Year of Unlearning
Living intentionally isn’t just about adding more to your life, it’s also about releasing what weighs you down. Limiting beliefs, old habits, and outdated expectations often linger in your subconscious, holding you back and shaping your choices in ways that no longer align with who you are or where you want to go.

In 2025, allow yourself to unlearn. Let go of the burdens and narratives you’ve been carrying from the past that are stunting your growth. Challenge the beliefs blocking your way and replace them with truths that empower and uplift you. When you clear space for what really matters, you create room for clarity, freedom, and a life designed on your own terms.

The Year of Reflection
Intentional living is an ongoing process, and regular reflection keeps you aligned with your values and goals. Take time to check in with yourself weekly or monthly. What’s working? What’s not? What changes would bring you closer to the life you want?

Reflection isn’t about nitpicking what you didn’t accomplish. It’s about celebrating progress and staying connected to your purpose. These moments of pause allow you to recalibrate and course-correct, making room for even more intentional growth in the year ahead.

Living intentionally starts with small, deliberate choices, and these pillars are a great place to start. Now, let’s turn inspiration into action and start creating your most intentional year yet.

Action Step

Even if you’ve already got your New Year’s resolutions written down, take a moment this week to try these steps. Having explored the idea of living with intention, you might find that some of your resolutions aren’t in alignment with what you truly want for your life.

  1. Choose Your “Year Of” Theme: Pick one focus area that will define your year. Maybe it’s clarity, presence, or unlearning habits and limiting beliefs. It’s ok to choose more than one theme as the year goes on, but it’s best to start with one. Write it down somewhere you’ll see it often, like your journal or a sticky note on your desk.

  2. One Small, Consistent Step: Think about one small action you can commit to daily that reflects your chosen theme. For clarity, you could spend five minutes each morning journaling your priorities. For presence, it could be a phone-free dinner or a mindfulness practice before bed. The key is consistency. Small actions done daily create the foundation for changes that stick. Write it down and read it every day.

  3. Declutter Your Energy: Take inventory of where your time and attention are going. Choose one thing you’re going to focus on removing throughout the year that will simplify your life. It could be keeping your physical space decluttered or it could be setting boundaries for your personal time so you have more time for self-care and mindfulness. Clearing away distractions, including negative thought patterns, will help you focus on living with purpose and intention. Write it down, read it daily, and commit to making it a hard rule for 2025.

Setting resolutions for your new year can be fun and motivational. But resolutions typically don’t last.

A study by Fisher College of Business showed that 23% of people quit their resolutions by the end of the first week and 43% have given up by the end of January. Not too promising.

Instead of setting a resolution for the year, frame your year of change as a journey of living more intentionally. By doing so, you’ll shift from chasing fleeting goals under self-imposed pressure to building a life that leaves behind stress and welcomes genuine fulfillment and abundant happiness.

So what’s your intention for 2025?

I’ll tell you mine…

My intention for 2025 is to be a catalyst for healing and growth, empowering everyone who crosses my path, whether for a moment or a lifetime, to step into their fullest potential and create a life of purpose and possibility.
