Let’s talk about a pace most of us forgot—
the pace of presence.
We were taught to rush.
To fill the calendar.
To say yes before we even feel the question.
To measure our worth by what we produce, not how we feel.
But that conditioning didn’t come from your truth.
It came from survival.
Why We Forgot How to Slow Down
We live in a culture that equates stillness with failure.
Rest gets labeled as lazy.
Silence gets filled with noise.
Presence gets interrupted by productivity.
Here’s why:
- The brain gets chemically rewarded for speed. Dopamine fires when you cross off tasks, scroll for stimulation, or check notifications.
- The body gets stuck in fight-or-flight. Constant urgency keeps your nervous system locked in overdrive.
- The world around you praises hustle—and pathologizes rest.
So we stop listening.
We override the signals.
We disconnect from our own rhythm.
But your body remembers.
And it’s been trying to speak to you.
Fast Isn’t Always Forward
Rest isn’t something you earn after exhaustion.
It’s not a luxury.
It’s not a reward.
It’s a requirement.
It’s medicine.
It’s the doorway to clarity.
Slowness is how Spirit enters.
It’s how wisdom lands.
It’s how the nervous system begins to trust again.
No real integration can happen in urgency.
And no lasting clarity comes from burnout.
The Body Has Been Speaking All Along
- That tension in your shoulders
- That snap in your voice
- That deep fatigue you keep overriding
These aren’t inconveniences.
They’re messages.
It’s your body saying:
“Please slow down.”
“Please come home.”
You were never supposed to bulldoze your way through life.
You were supposed to feel your way.
The Medicine Path Reminds Us
Whether it’s cacao, kambo, tepezcohuite, or psilocybin—
the real work doesn’t always happen at the peak of your journey.
It happens in the after.
The quiet. The breath. The space between.
This is the rhythm of integration.
Not urgency.
Not achievement.
Subtle shifts in breath.
Tiny cues in the gut.
Moments when you finally hear yourself.
That’s what guides you—not your calendar.
Ask Yourself This:
- Where am I rushing when my body is begging me to rest?
- What discomfort have I ignored in the name of being productive?
- What would it feel like to move at the pace of Spirit—not urgency?
Action Step
This week, honor slowness like it’s sacred—because it is.
- Sleep longer—without guilt.
- Take a walk without your phone.
- Cancel something that no longer feels aligned.
- Pause. Breathe. Then breathe deeper.
Say to yourself:
“I move at the pace of Spirit. And right now, that pace is slow.”
You don’t have to be in ceremony to honor your body as sacred.
Every choice to slow down is a choice to return home.
Have a grounded, gentle week.
