Is that your intuition talking, or is it just fear in a good disguise?

Planet & Plant Note

March 16, 2026: We are four days away from the Spring Equinox and the Sun’s move into Aries on March 20th. But right now, we are still deep inside Pisces. And Mercury has been retrograde in Pisces since February 26th, also stationing direct on March 20th.

This combination is worth sitting with before we talk about what this issue is actually about.

Pisces has no natural boundaries. It absorbs everything around it. Joy, grief, other people’s anxiety, collective fear, your own unprocessed emotion from three years ago. It does not filter. It simply feels. And it feels everything at the same intensity, which means it cannot always tell you where one feeling ends and another begins.

Mercury retrograde in Pisces makes this worse. Mercury governs communication, clarity, and the ability to sort information. When Mercury goes retrograde in Pisces, the mind’s capacity to distinguish and categorize gets deliberately blurred. What you think is clear thinking is often circular. What feels like a clear signal is often fog with a confident voice.

This is the sky you have been living in for the last three weeks. And if you have been struggling to know whether what you are feeling is real guidance or spiraling anxiety, this is a significant part of why.

Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, is also sitting in early Aries right now, carrying its dissolving, boundary-erasing energy into the territory of identity and initiative. Saturn is in Aries as well, asking you to get serious about what is real versus what is a story you are telling yourself.

The sky right now is one of the most confusing environments for inner discernment that we move through all year. And this week’s issue is about the most important skill you can develop inside that confusion.

This is Kambo medicine. When you work with Kambo, the fog of Pisces has nowhere to hide. The medicine does not negotiate with confusion. It does not let you stay in your head spinning stories about what you might be feeling or what it might mean. It pulls you into your body completely, and in that total embodiment, something clarifies. The anxiety that was posing as wisdom becomes obviously what it is. The real signal, the quiet one you kept talking yourself out of, becomes the only thing left standing.

When you work with Mapacho, it cuts through the psychic noise that Pisces season accumulates in your field. Weeks of absorbing other people’s emotions, collective anxiety, unprocessed feeling. Mapacho clears the static so that when a signal comes, you can actually hear it without all the interference. It is the medicine of discernment, and discernment is exactly what this season has been making difficult.

The Confusion That Runs Most People’s Lives

We are honored you are here for this one. Because this might be the question that, when you finally answer it clearly, changes more decisions than any other single shift you could make.

Most people have been making major life decisions based on fear for so long that they genuinely cannot tell the difference between fear and intuition anymore.

They turn down the opportunity because it does not feel right. But it does not feel right because it is new, and their nervous system flags new as dangerous.

They stay in the relationship past its expiration date because leaving does not feel right. But what they are feeling is not intuition. It is the terror of the unknown dressed up as wisdom.

They avoid the conversation, the boundary, the honest moment, because something in them says not yet. But that something is not their higher knowing. It is the part of them that learned, very early, that honesty had consequences.

Fear and intuition both live in the body. Both feel like a knowing. Both arrive without a clear explanation. This is why they are so easy to confuse. And inside Pisces season with Mercury retrograde, they are more tangled than usual.

But they are not the same thing. And learning to tell them apart is some of the most important work you will ever do.

What the Science Shows

Your gut is not a metaphor. There are approximately 500 million neurons lining your gastrointestinal tract, and researchers now refer to this as the enteric nervous system, or the second brain. It communicates directly with your brain via the vagus nerve and processes information independently of conscious thought.

Dr. Antonio Damasio’s research on somatic markers, documented in his book Descartes’ Error, shows that the body generates signals that guide decision-making before the rational mind has processed the available information. This is what people call gut feeling. It is real. It is neurological. It is not imagination.

But here is where it gets complicated.

Research from the HeartMath Institute shows that chronic stress and unresolved trauma dysregulate the nervous system in ways that distort these somatic signals. When your baseline is anxiety, fear-based signals feel like truth. Your body has been alarmed for so long that the alarm no longer means what it used to mean.

A 2016 study published in Psychological Science found that people with higher levels of interoceptive awareness, meaning the ability to accurately read their own internal body signals, made more accurate intuitive decisions than those with lower interoceptive awareness. The more connected you are to your body, the more trustworthy your gut becomes.

The problem is not that you cannot trust your body. The problem is that most people’s bodies have been in survival mode for so long that the signals need recalibration. And Pisces season, with its tendency to blur and dissolve, is one of the hardest seasons to do that recalibration in.

Which is exactly why we are talking about it now, before Aries arrives in four days and asks you to act.

How to Actually Tell the Difference

Fear tends to be loud, urgent, and repetitive. It narrows your thinking. It catastrophizes. It tells you everything that could go wrong in specific detail. It has a timeline and a sense of emergency. It lives in the chest and the throat and the shoulders. It changes its story depending on your mood and your energy level. It says: do not move, do not try, do not risk, do not trust.

Intuition tends to be quiet, steady, and simple. It does not explain itself in paragraphs. It does not need you to be afraid in order to be heard. It lands in the belly or the lower chest as a calm knowing rather than a braced warning. It says one thing, clearly, and then it waits.

Fear gets louder when you ignore it. Intuition gets quieter but does not disappear.

Fear changes depending on how tired or stressed you are. Intuition says the same thing every time you come back to it, regardless of your mood.

Fear is almost always about the future. Intuition is almost always about right now.

This is not a perfect formula. But it is a starting place. And right now, with Mercury retrograde in Pisces making everything feel like a signal and nothing feel certain, having a framework at all is more valuable than usual.

A Personal Note

I have made some of the worst decisions of my life inside Pisces season. Not because Pisces is dangerous. Because Pisces is where the volume between fear and intuition gets equalized in a way that makes them genuinely hard to separate.

I sat in ceremony once during late Pisces season convinced that a particular relationship was wrong for me. Every cell in my body was telling me to leave. I was certain it was intuition.

It was not. It was old abandonment fear in very convincing clothes. And Kambo, weeks later, showed me exactly that. The medicine pulled me into my body and what I found there was not guidance. It was a terrified part of me that had been running that script since childhood.

I am not telling you this to confuse you further. I am telling you this because the difference between those two signals, the fear and the real knowing, became clear to me only after I stopped being in my head and got into my body. Not through more analysis. Through presence.

That is what the last week of Pisces is asking of you. Not more thinking. More presence.

How Working with Plant Medicine Teaches You About This

When you work with Kambo, it removes the physical and energetic residue that clouds your internal signals. People who work with Kambo regularly often describe a new clarity in their decision-making in the weeks that follow. Not because the medicine made decisions for them. Because it cleared the static so they could finally hear themselves without the interference.

When you work with Mapacho, it teaches you to be still enough to listen. To stop reacting to the first signal and wait for the one underneath it. Mapacho does not rush. It does not let you rush either. And in Pisces season, when everything feels equally urgent and equally real, that quality of patience is medicine in itself.

The plants do not give you better intuition. They give you a cleaner channel to the intuition you already have.

Something to Listen To This Week

Put on Hammock’s “Longest Year.” It is slow, spacious, and asks nothing from you. Let it play somewhere quiet while you sit with the question this issue is asking.

Notice where in your body the music lands. That noticing is the practice.

Action Prompt

This week, take one decision you have been circling during this Mercury retrograde and ask yourself honestly:

Is this feeling louder and more urgent the more I think about it? Or does it stay the same quiet and steady weight no matter how many times I return to it?

You do not have to act on the answer yet. Just notice which one it is.

That distinction is the beginning of learning to trust yourself again. And Aries season, arriving in four days, is going to ask you to act. Make sure you know the difference before it does.

Now We Want to Hear From You

Can you think of a time when you confused fear for intuition and made a decision based on it?

And looking back, how did your body actually feel in that moment compared to a time when you followed something real?
